The FotoFinder success story started at the beginning of the 90ies when the Internet and multimedia boom began. The topics images and computers gained importance in the media. During that time, Rolf and Andreas Mayer, father & son and FotoFinder's managing directors, saw potential opportunities in digitizing video data and creating digital image databases. The FotoFinder imaging database was born. At first it came to be used by industrial companies.

The next step into the medical field started only a few years later when Rolf Mayer met an influential dermatology professor who worked closely with the manager of a tanning salon. At that time, the company was still known under the name TeachScreen Software GmbH. It was obvious that an imaging system to monitor moles would highly improve the skin cancer diagnostics at that time: The FotoFinder imaging database was quickly extended by a video camera, a special optic for microscopic imaging, and finally a computer system. The FotoFinder dermoscope was born. Today, FotoFinder is the world market leader in the area of digital dermoscopy and photo documentation in dermatology. Since then the system has been continously developed further and is now in use with several thousand satisfied clients worldwide.
In addition, numerous other FotoFinder software and system solutions for medicine, industry and criminology have been developed. Since June 2007 FotoFinder operates under the name FotoFinder Systems GmbH. A strong company name for a strong brand.

The company

The family-run company FotoFinder Systems GmbH is based in the Bavarian countryside in the town of Bad Birnbach. The FotoFinder network extends widely over the world with subsidiaries in Spain, Italy and the USA and a strong network of partners and distributors all over the world. Today, with 15 years of experience and company history, FotoFinder has become the leading manufacturer of imaging systems.

Cooperations with well-known universities and institutes have contributed to the development of several expert systems which help simplify the work with images. Moreover, FotoFinder is an ISO certifed company and their Quality Management System conforms to the latest version of ISO standards (ISO 9001:2008). FotoFinder is constantly striving to optimize internal processes and to meet and exceed the wishes of our worldwide clients.
