Trichoscan expert system
Trichoscan is our optional expert system for automated computer trichograms. As opposed to the traditional trichogram, the application is completely painless, without depilation, and automatically determines all parameters of hair growth. Thus Trichoscan enables you to digitally document and quantify hair loss for the first time!
First of all a representative area on the scalp has to be shaved. A special template helps you to shave the right size (approximately 1cm²). Now you can already measure the hair density. For determining the anagen-telogen-ratio, the area with the re-grown hair has to be dyed 3 days later. After that a microscopic image with 20X magnification is captured and analyzed.
The Trichoscan software assumes that anagen hairs grow 0.3 mm per day, whereas telogen hairs do not grow at all. The software uses this information when calculating number of hairs, hair density and anagen-telogen ratio. Vellus and terminal hair number and density are determined as well. Thus Trichoscan helps you evaluate the results of different hair therapies.
