Interview with Filip Žampach,
Director of the Homea Clinic
(Pardubice, Czech Republic)
Clinic director Filip Žampach provides insights into the impressive development and philosophy of the clinic, which has evolved over the years from a simple dermatology practice to a state-of-the-art center for preventive medicine. Today, the Homea Clinic stands for patient-oriented care that combines modern technology with a holistic medical approach.
FF What is the Story of the Homea Clinic?
Filip Žampach The clinic was founded by my mother and me in 1991, after the Czech revolution. Our vision was to improve access to dermatological examinations and patient care. My mother was particularly passionate about moving away from outdated practices and embracing modern technology. In 2003, we introduced the first video dermatoscope, despite widespread skepticism in the medical profession about new technologies. Today, the FotoFinder systems are the cornerstones of our clinic. Total Body Mapping provides a comprehensive view of the skin and enables accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. This approach has shifted our focus from treating localized skin problems to adopting a “whole skin” view on health and has significantly improved our ability to detect and treat various skin conditions early.
FF What treatments and services does the Homea Clinic offer?
Filip Žampach The Homea Clinic has grown into a multi-faceted medical center that not only specializes in dermatology, but also integrates gynecology, one-day surgery and other related fields. We’re equipped with the latest laser technologies and are known for our expertise in both dermatological and aesthetic treatments. However, our main focus is on prevention. We are a private center specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair, nail and genital disorders, which sets us apart from clinics
that focus only on aesthetics.
Our team has expanded to around 30 employees, including doctors, nurses and assistant staff. We operate year-round with high demand for our services so that we are often able to fill our schedule without advertising. On average, we handle 150 to 200 requests and examine 20 to 25 patients per day just with Total Body Mapping. The Homea Clinic stands for innovation, comprehensive care and a preventive approach to medicine. Our slogan “We are the clinic for preventive medicine” sums up our mission to offer advanced, patient-centered treatments that prioritize long-term health over aesthetic corrections.
FF Why did Homea Clinic choose the skin imaging systems from FotoFinder and what advantages do they offer?
Filip Žampach During a visit to France, I had the chance to meet Andreas Mayer and Kathrin Niemela, whose professionalism and commitment to developing the technology deeply impressed me. That marked the beginning of our collaboration. Today we have an impressive database of around 14,000 patients.
This journey has been significant for both my family and me, as it has allowed us to grow with the technology and achieve greater independence. The FotoFinder systems have become indispensable tools in our daily work, whether for examining small lesions, performing Total Body Mapping or for comprehensive screenings. We've also integrated the meesma system for aesthetic procedures.
Our clinic is now fully equipped with connected screens, dermoscopy systems and several tablets, enabling us to perform mole screenings and Total Body Mapping in different rooms. We have two dedicated rooms and a surgical area where we can conveniently review images remotely on a PC or tablet before performing excisions.
Using FotoFinder technology, we’ve created a comprehensive, networked system that can be operated by every team member. The strength of FotoFinder systems lies in their versatility and user-friendly, intelligent design, as well as their stability and functionality for smooth operation.
I can say with a clear conscience that FotoFinder has been instrumental in building our clinic. It offers countless opportunities to suggest treatments, develop new services and advance our practice. For any dermatology clinic, FotoFinder is an invaluable enrichment.
FF Please describe the optimal workflow for a Total Body Mapping examination – also from an economic point of view.
Filip Žampach We start with a comprehensive Total Body Mapping and follow-up with regular appointments. This approach not only ensures thorough examinations, but also helps retain patients. Many of our new patients return year after year, building a strong and lasting relationship with our clinic.
We are convinced that annual mole examinations are essential, especially with the growing awareness of dermoscopy and the increasing incidence of skin cancer in our country. Thanks to this advanced technology, we can easily conduct these checks without needing heavy advertising. When other doctors adopt FotoFinder systems from us, I also advise them on how to generate revenue for their clinics. Dermoscopy, for example, can generate €300 per hour, making it a valuable service that can be offered year-round, in any room and at any time. This has become the foundation of our clinic’s success.
Our Total Body Mapping procedure is both streamlined and comprehensive. Each session is scheduled for 20 minutes. First, our staff register the patient in the system and capture the baseline images. The doctor then joins to perform a full visual inspection using the Mosaic View to efficiently examine the patient from head to toe.
The focus is on identifying and recording the most important moles in the system. After the examination, the doctor enters notes into the system and the patient receives a summary at the reception desk before leaving. The cost of a Total Body Mapping examination is € 100.
We aim to treat three patients per hour. If a patient has multiple moles, the procedure may take longer, but our experienced doctors manage the time well. The consistency and reliability of this workflow ensure a stable income for the clinic, making it a highly effective and sustainable practice.
FF How do your patients respond to the FotoFinder examination?
Filip Žampach Patients perceive the FotoFinder examination as very professional and appreciate the clear communication with our staff. Effective communication is the key to our success and this is something that our patients really appreciate.
The FotoFinder brand is well received and positively contributes to its overall experience. However, we don't position ourselves as a luxury clinic; instead, we emphasize a family-friendly environment.
Our priority is to treat people with kindness and make them feel comfortable and welcome.
