How Artificial Intelligence can better support dermatologists.
BAD BIRNBACH, April 2023. Every year, health insurance companies and cancer societies report an increasing number of new cases of skin cancer. Therefore, not only regular visits to skin cancer screening are important, but also the use of cutting-edge technology for early detection of malignant skin changes. In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made tremendous technical advances in medicine and is available for routine clinical use in many specialties, including dermatology. With the Moleanalyzer pro software, FotoFinder Systems offers an AI-based solution for the evaluation of skin lesions that supports dermatologists in examination and follow-up.
Powerful performance: clinically proven multiple times
The Moleanalyzer pro software impresses in many ways: It helps to harmonize AI and human experience, thus forming an unbeatable duo. For the pre-assessment of skin lesions, dermatologists have access to comprehensive analysis and comparison functions as well as a second opinion service and probably the most powerful deep-learning algorithm for scoring skin lesions that has been evaluated and its performance validated in clinical studies to date.*
New and for even better results: AI scoring with Heatmap
Moleanalyzer pro classifies a skin lesion with an AI score on a color scale. After requesting a score, a so-called heatmap – a kind of thermal image view – can also be displayed for the lesion in Moleanalyzer pro. This visualizes, using different colors, which areas of the lesion were crucial for the calculation of the AI score. "Hot" pixels that are most crucial for the resulting AI score and shown in red colors. Pixels that are less important for the score and therefore "cold" are displayed in shades of blue. The new heatmap view helps to understand how the AI arrives at its score and whether any possible interfering factors in the image are affecting the result. A helpful additional information for the pre-assessment of the lesion.
Managing the chaos of multiple lesions
The use of computer-assisted methods for early skin cancer detection is standard in practice. The FotoFinder ATBM master provides this cutting-edge technology with its Total Body Dermoscopy Workflow, which intelligently mergers Total Body Mapping and dermoscopy, enabling a time-saving, detailed, and hygienic examination of the entire skin surface. Thanks to the brilliant clinical images, the need for microscopic images is reduced to a fraction of moles, which can then be evaluated by the physician using FotoFinder AI.
